Since I am a South Carolinian, I have more at stake than some other CE readers. Infidelity occurs regularly around the world. This is a case of such behavior. Sanford continued, perhaps unwittingly at first, playing with the near occassion of sin through his email relationship with his future lover.

I don't want to know any more details of their private lives made public anymore than I want to know about the man down the street who just left his wife and 4 kids.

My legitimate concern lies with the governing of SC during difficult socio/economic times. It was in that area, in particular, that Sanford was to be trusted as an elected official. However, he literally went AWOL/UA on the citizens of SC. That issue seems to be getting lost amid the media scampering to uncover his love-letters for a voyeuristic public to slabber over.

If he were serving in the US Marine Corps, he'd find himself in the brig. He can no longer be trusted to act rationally, in my opinion, as governor. His irrational behavior leads me to wonder if he has had a nervous breakdown.

For the good of the SC, not to mention his family, Sanford needs to resign. Immediately.
