Maybe this isn't such a bad thing. Four girls were allegedly killed by their mother in DC. They had been dead for months. She told authorities she had taken them out of school to home-school them: http://wtop.com/?nid=428&sid=1604220

SeanReynoldsNZ!

Kudos to you! I will be in prayer for you to find a good job soon. CE readers! Please join me in praying for this rare soul who wants to work--even at minimum wage rather than take a hand out!

This is truly a rarity in today's world and just the opposite of the women interview on election night who told the world, "Now that Obama has been elected, I will never have to pay the rent myself again!"

Agree with the Government handout bit. I want to set the example well here for my son who is due to be born on 17 July.

I lost my job on the 19th of June due to many mining businesses cutting back on expenditure on engineering consultants. While I'm fortunate to hold Australian Citizenship (as well as New Zealand Citizenship) making me eligible for the dole (welfare), I would rather work for minimum wage than collect a cent of it.

One of the things that I'm doing is applying for jobs temporarily in places like cafes, fast-food joints, pizza delivery, etc, because it is easy to get one of those jobs, and it is easy to get rid of when I find myself back in demand as a reliability engineer or LEAN or 6-sigma expert. I would rather earn my money than bludge off the Aussie taxpayer.

A once sovereign nation is now being directed by the U.N. Don't you think that this trend has already been accepted by many of our elected officials? Look up LOST treaty or NAU etc. Attitudes and beliefs once clearly seen as traitorous are now commonly held among our oligarchy who are interested in moving an agenda that has nothing to do with our wishes. Remember our Constitution is only a "*&$^ Piece of Paper." Why else would legislation after legislation get passed that the American people are against?

Things that were considered conspiracy theories keeping coming true. The hour is late.

"Parties shall assure to the child who is capable of forming his or her own views the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child".

Sounds good, but this same freedom is not allowed in public schools.
Views on Prayer are not allowed, and in some schools discussing Pro life positions is not allowed. Sex education and homosexual views are often forced on the students, with no dissent allowed, or even the ability to opt out of such education. Students are definitely not allowed to "express those views freely in all matters affecting the child".
Freedom is only allowed if you agree with their agenda.
I do believe that there should be a minimum standard in regarding to reading, writing and arithmetic.

We can noy charge into the bedroom and ask questions, so therefore we should not be able charge into the classroom of a private home and ask questions.

Equal treatment under the law.

Plowshare,

I'm in agreement with you. The public schools and even some of the private schools have become liberal indoctrination centers, in my opinion. Just yesterday I read an article that in CA they are pushing for a "Harvey Milk Day" in the schools to "honor" the slain homosexual activist - more indoctrination in the homosexual agenda. And that's just the tip of the iceberg from what I've seen. If I had children, the only options I would see for education at the present time would be to homeschool or to find a truly orthodox Catholic school.

Peace and blessings,
Ann

Sean, I think they are aiming for a much more extensive indoctrination than just sexuality education. Just think of all the facets of the Catholic doctrines of Social Justice that have been twisted to justify government handouts at taxpayer (and private charity donor) expense. True, some of this does go back ultimately to sex "education" including the interventions into private charities like Catholic adoption services. Some have shut down rather than yielding to state government coercion to place babies with same-sex couples.

The BBC cloud does have a silver lining: in the first link provided in the article, it is also revealed how authorities in Scotland seem to be genuinely concerned with providing resources for home schooling families, and visits once a year are encouraged but not mandatory. I hope things stay this way in Scotland, at least.
