Bear One Another’s Burdens!

Galatians 6:2

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

The “law of Christ” is quite simply the law of total self-donation to God the Father, for it is the nature of the Son to give himself totally to the Father just as it is the nature of the Father to give himself totally to the Son.  When Christ comes to dwell in us, that nature does not change, we do.  We begin to find ourselves “taken up” into the life of the Blessed Trinity and participating in the Son’s eternal self-offering.  And since the Son has been given all things, that means we offer all things—especially our neighbors—to the Father.  We take them on our backs and bear them to God and find, as we do so, that others have taken us on their backs and borne us to God.  In the mystery of the Church, we discover that God has somehow made each responsible for all.  Today, take up your place in the Great Dance of the Trinity and bear the burden of those whom God has given you.  The Blessed Trinity will be within you strengthening you, and in the Church, lifting you up, so that you can do it!
