Obama doesn’t have to worry about making abortion his highest legislative policy because he has made sure that every woman he has appointed will take care of that for him. He’s covered himself quite well on the issue.

Ok but what he said was that it was not hi highest priority. He didn’t answer the question as to whether he would do it within the year. true he has backed off on his campaign comments to PP, but he has yet to really go back on it and he has filled hi Cabinet not with ho-hum yes I’m pro-Choicers, but radical hardcore abortion supporters.
Of course I agree it is better this way thatn having FOCA and there is always hope but as I read the opening chapter of President Obama’s book on hope I ma seeing little more than a hardcore radical liberal as opposed to someone who wants to provide hope for all.

Says Mr. Tsakanikas:
“The problem with most Marxists (really just materialists who deny God and authentic human values) is that they can’t believe in love. Everything is about power politics. They believe only in what their eyes can see and have little value for past wisdom. Everything is about change and revolution.”

The same could be said for the so-called “pro-choice” feminists and the ranks of PPFA, NARAL and their ilk. It’s all about power. Their world is black and white: male v. female, and who is going to exercise power over whom. Abortion isn’t about life, it’s about power. Notice how often they repeat the mantra “reproductive rights” in defending their position. We (the men) in their skewed universe “force” women to get pregnant and through laws “force” them to carry their (what?) “fetus” (there are no “babies” in Abortionland in which “pro-choice” dwells).

If the Prez is so interested in the sentitivities of pro-lifers, why has he provided us with a veritable parade of appointees whose positions on abortion have been shown consistantly sympathetic (if not outright enablers) to the “Choice” cause. Has he made as much as one appointment so far that has evoked so much as a bat-squeak of protest from NARAL, PPFA, MSNBC, etc.?

POTUS Obama can make all the noises with his mouth he wants about what his priorities are, etc. I say watch his hands carefully to see what legistlation he signs/vetoes, what executive appointments he had made and will make, and who he fingers to fill the Supreme Court vacancy (not to mention dozens of Federal judgeships left vacant at the end of the GWB admin. just past). So far the score has been Abortion 25, Pro-Life 0.

Prez Obama is nothing if not cunning. He didn’t get as far as he has in politics by doing the “honest Abe” thing. He’s a smooth talker with charisma and he knows it, and is going to exploit those attributes to the max. He probably saw the red envelopes and figures he ought to say something to placate the pro-lifers. Talk is cheap, Mr. Obama.
Oh, by the way Mr. Prez, while your at it, if you *really* want to do something to show us pro-lifers that you *really* feel us a worthy group to dialogue with, please have Homeland Security Commissar Napoleon-Aint-No take us off the “potential terrorist” watch list, would ya?

In order to enhance his popularity the President has to move toward some of the groups that he’s been marginalizing. Strategically it’s a well calculated move.
It actually gives him more power.
As Mr. Tsakanikas so poignantly stated in the last paragraph, Marxism is about power. So while it may appear that the Prez. is moving toward love of the innocent he’s actually becoming a stronger Marxist.

I think I will also send him his favorite color envelope – red.

Father Edward T. Oakes, S.J., a frequest contributor to First Things magazine, has this to say at the First Things On the Square blog. It concerns how Barack Obama, as a non-political man, just might not be so pro-abortion as he seems - just spineless about giving in to left-wing radicals. Attacking him about his Christianity over abortion, as main example, gives him great pause. Take a look. And, by the way, being a book-oriented reader, I have had very few periodicals that I insist on reading; in fact, less and less in numbers over time. But, Father Richard John Neuhaus’ First Things I always keep subscribed to, read it cover to cover, and daily read the On the Square blog and the First Things staff editors’ and writers’ blog. I consider them must-reads for their orthodox Christianity, mostly Catholic in orientation and always interesting, intelligent and even exciting.
