The Church in all its manifestations must provide a united front simply because it has no consistent allies in the life issues.

This dangling-our-dalliance-d'amor for political purposes need not have us calling a disaster area a field of flowers. In fact, far better that stark facts unto truth can evoke real thinking, over massaging the mentality with near-excuses and 'undertanding'. Far better to evoke deabte and open contention that the news get around that life is not only 'better than death', but as in His role of making life, life unto death is God's province alone. AND, that indeed there are both the death side and the life side, and one can feel compelled to make his choice plain and clear.

I am beneficiary now of an under-funded liability of an entitlement - and, yea, do I look on in horror at possibilities for being hunted down to eliminate. As it stands now, I can't see even half of our American hierarchy standing between me and such extermination; some incredible part of them will make excuses for the beasts for death. We don't need the Vatican soothing the potential beasts, too.

This will also embolden dissident Catholics and Catholics who think that pro-Life issues should not be as high as other priorities to promote Obama and his agenda at the expense of the unborn, the dying and the "frozen in limbo".

I agree that such two-faced journalism has the potential of weakening the Church.

Much as the Vatican must be admired for its political acumen, I think the Church must choose its political tactics very carefully. To present a mild countenance in the face of the unbridled evil of Obama's policies on life (to say nothing of the evil of his poor economic and foreign-policy choices) only loses a teachable moment and an opportunity to act on principle. It's not the main job of the Vatican to "play politics", but to "play evangelization." Sacrificing evangelization for political positioning is the wrong tactic.

And in fact, it won't do any good. Obama will simply take his winnings and double down. Wait till you see socialized medicine and its inevitable pro-suicide feature. (The latter is a necessary feature, as shown in the Dutch example, in order to "balance the books.") It's also a way of deferring the Social Security meltdown, the result of the unfunded liabilities of that system.
