I am a huge supporter of Rick Santorum but the author overlooked the fact that Senator Santorum lost the election because he supported Senator Spector. Many voters concerned with Life issues were dumbfounded and disappointed. I know several people in my small town who did not vote for him as a result. I pray that he will never again be politically manipulated and will serve once more the people of Pennsylvania.

Not really on the topic of the article, but if American "socialized medicine" were organized like education -- you have to pay taxes for the "free" stuff, but you are allowed to go outside the system and spend your own money -- it would be better than it is in Canada, Great Britain, and Sweden. There, if they decide you don't get some treatment, you are out of luck. You aren't even allowed to spend your own money to get treatment. The only way to control costs when treatment is "free" is to limit access.

Interesting piece .. I hadn't really "summed" up the two camps that way.
For what it is worth - as a voting republican ... I consider myself a social moderate, economic conservative with dashes of libertarian political views. I'm not a huge Rush fan, mostly as I see his good points lost by over-the-top rhetoric (same for Michael Savage). It's this style that turns many off .. and I'm well over 40. But I must agree with the change in media mentality that exists. Though "progressives" will say they cater to the so called intellectual printer word -- I imagine it is still words of emotion.

One of the reasons Santorum lost is because he was perceived by pro-lifers as having betrayed them (the Tomei Senate race against Spector). But Santorum is correct on some things, espeically about how the Left has seized control of education; it wasn't something that was by accident, it was a calculated plan by Progressives such as Dewey. Another thought: people who rail against socialized medicine (or socialized/nationalized anything else) may want to consider that "public education" is in fact "socialized education," espcially considering the huge amount of monies the Federal government sends to the various States (and all the rules and Regs--No Child Left Behind, etc--that come with them.)

I really wonder about Limbaugh's the low approval ratings for those under 40 however. Last week I came across YouTube videos of Limbaugh's CPAC speech and the snipets got high viewership and ratings. Of course, that could have changed in a week. Going to go back and check on that.
