Why is Mr. Kmiec, or anyone else, a bad person for trying to line up the teachings of the Church with his reason to support a candidate who advocates getting rid of all restrictions on abortion? If he believes this candidate's other policies will better the conditions of many women who seek abortion, and therfore will reduce abortion, is he not trying to do the right thing?

We may disagree for some logically obvious reasons, but in charity for a fellow Christian shouldn't we try to correct him rather than call him a dirty rotten stinker (or worse!)

And about those awful right-wingers on the blogosphere... Is Mr. Kmiec critical of the bloggers, or the guys in the comment boxes? I'm reminded of the guy who says he won't drink water because,"you know what fish do in water!" Well the blogosphere is a pretty big ocean.

And having visited many a blog, both right and left wing, I have to say the most over-the-top, hateful, and obscenity-laced comments boxes I have found were from those blogs on the left, not the right.

So Mr. Kmiec offers that if the Bishop of Rome corrected his position, then he'd admit error, but when numerous brother bishops in this country HAVE corrected his position, he admits nothing of the sort. I don't get that. It seems that Mr. Kmiec understands well enough that the Holy Father does not see the Faith through the lense of a political party. Well enough to safely make his offer.

But even this misses the point. Catholicism is about truth, not party.

I hope someone can offer some fraternal correction to Mr. Kmiec in love and that we can be one as He and the Father are one.

I'll second the motion: "what Jim said"! May I add, "if the shoe pinches", Dr. Kmic, you might want to look for a pair that's a better fit instead of blaming everybody else for calling attention to your problem.

What Jim said. Also, it has struck me throughout Kmiec's battle that he is so glamoured (in the sense of being ensnared by a spell) by Obama that he refuses to believe the statements Obama has made about the life issues (abortion, Terry Schiavo, etc.). Everyone else is to blame if we take the man at his word.

It is not the place of this "Catholic" lawyer to criticize the Archbishop of Denver in the execution of his office. Period.
