Great article on this fine film.... but please don't forget it is the intercession of St. Joseph, patron saint of fathers, who saves the day in the opening scene of the movie. A good movie is even richer when you look at it through Catholic eyes.

This has been one of my all time favorite movies since I was a young girl and was introduced to it on TV at my grandmother's house. The movie illustrates many important life lessons--devotion, loyalty, honesty and commitment-- and has become a favorite of my children as well. Great article. Merry Christmas!

Many marriages today last not eve long enough to pay for the wedding. More than anything in the world, I wish for couples to stay and stick it out long enough to actually understand who the other spouse is deep inside. To stay together long enough for the trust to build to a point that no one keeps score any longer.

This economic down-turn will surely test the best of marriages. In conversations, I keep referring to the movie Cinderella Man. If you want to know how to survive the struggle, it takes a strong responsible and loving male and a creative and giving female. Sometimes the "spark" has nothing to do with marriage; it is the tenacity and virtues of honesty and integrity that will hold a couple together. To just do what you vowed to do.
All the rest is gravy.

"A Wonderful Life" was a wonderful film. When you compare it to the disasterous and dangerous message of the "safe -sex" crowd in the entertainment media and in our schools, you can easily see that our children are being cheated and led down a path to disaster. One out of every four 'teens has some kind of s.t.d. due to the promiscuity that is encouraged, and 'teen pregnancy and abortion are also rampant. Pills and condoms have high failure rates and many people encourage abortion as the "quick-fix". All of this kills the life of the soul in our children - even before they are old enough to realize what life and real love are truly about. Wake up America! We are killing our future. Tell your children about purity and ask help of Maria Goretti, who understood what God values and what the young people really need.
