You know, I watched it on the news and thought 'oh no, another renegade priest!' How pleased I am to know the TRUTH. Dear Father Scott, I will keep you in my prayers. You might want to encourage your flock to pray the Saint Michael the Archangel prayer after Mass. He is a mighty defender! I know. Our pastor (unofficially, mind you) recently discouraged us from praying it after Mass as it interrupted private conversations going on in Church after Mass. And now ..... very sad the goings on there.
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle!

Being well acquainted with Father Newman, I can tell you that I have no doubt whatsoever that God chose Father Newman not only for such an hour as this, but has also prepared him well.

Father Newman is a man of great intellect, incredible geniality, and complete holiness.

I would be obedient to him until the bitter end, for HE is first obedient to the rightful authorities placed over him by Christ.

I trust him implicitly with direction of my soul.

It seems to me that poor Fr. Newman has placed himself "between a rock and a hard place", and isn't likely to be "loosed" any time soon. The media--particularly, the mainstream media--are going to twist and distort anything and everything they can to make him--and, by inference, the Church--into "the bad guy". I sincerely doubt there's anything Father can do or say to reverse that trend.

I think we must all lift up Father Newman in prayer. Perhaps, God "has chosen [him] for such an hour as this". Or, perhaps, God will allow something else to distract their attention from Father, and the controversy will simply fade away. In either case, Father Newman needs support, and I pledge mine.

I voted for certain pro-abortion candidates in three presidential elections, and I remember the day that God gave me the grace to go and confess what I had done. I remember being surprised, like, "does this really matter?" People don't understand the importance and real, spiritual significance of voting; it really matters who gets elected, and so it really matters who we vote for. It's taken me a number of years to get my civic participation to be fully Catholic; maybe this is what we should pray and work for on behalf of our fellow Catholics who voted pro-abortion in this election.

(The priest's message and warnings were correct but the news media seems to have distorted it, resulting in confusion, division, and scandal.)

It was not (widely) made clear enough -by the media or the candidates - before the election, that millions of lives were in jeopardy due to Obama's pro-abortion beliefs. Many voters only wanted to elect a Black president or help the economy.

Now we must deal with the deadly results, and the harm done to the souls of voters who "cooperated" to bring this evil of expanded abortion to our nation. They do need to repent and confess, because God will indeed judge us all.
