Archbishop Wuerl is sort of an 'expectable disappointment', given a seat formed to McCarrick's sedentary ordinariness. Yet, such is all too common among 260-some bishops, don'cha think? It is as if there is some Canon law in support of schmoozing with heretics.

About finances and the economy, leaderless. Must it seem so about the faith in the American Church, too? As Mark Shea noted in another article, one rarely hears much controversially challenging Gospel leadership from Catholic pulpits.

I recently got a small book, A Humble Plea to Bishops, Clergy and Laymen: Ending the Abortion Holocaust by Randall A. Terry. Founder of Operation Rescue, Mr. Terry is a formerly determined Protestant pro-life leader now a converted Catholic and still determined pro-life leader. Conscientiously tied to Evangelium Vitae, the Gospel of Life from the head, heart and hand of John Paul the Great; and citing Scripture to highlight support for all life. The book is far more plea than censure or complaint. Go see www.humbleplea.com; also www.randallterry.com. The little book is addressed most primarily to the American bishops, begging them to use their combined power for clear, concise, unambiguous pulpit and published calls to protect life.

I also received a pamphlet that any Obamaniacs around here would have difficulty arguing with. Titled Is It Immoral to Vote for Obama for President?, it, too, cites Evangelium Vitae. It may be posted at the www.randallterry site.

Now, I question B.O.'s ability to lead a two-man dog-catching team - except to bore his fellow worker to death - let alone be an effective national U. S. leader. His crowning achievement has been to consistently run for office, voting 'present' and not-at-all once in congressional office [except to conscientiously provide for killing the unconveniently conceived; addenda for starving the rugged survivors of forced-delivery abortion of nutrition, air or loving attention; soon to be followed with killing the unconveniently still-alive], and politicking with a flare for demeaning (and even eliminating) any and all opponents. Mr. Terry in his pamphlet punctuates the man's unseemly ways by summarizing his anti-life choices as: "Such devotion to the Angel of Death defies all decency." Sadly, that may be understatement.

I may yet be undecided about who to vote for for President of the U.S.A. But, B.O. has been out of the running for me for all the time he has been prominent for any office.
