Amen!!!!!
I work with the youth at our LifeTeen program and your homily describes the exact reason that I am committed to these youths. When I was growing up I felt that the adults wouldn't BE with the teens. They would just stand at the front of the room and lecture, lecture, lecture. When I went away for college, I totally stopped going to church and had no real spirituality. Then I met some Catholics that weren't like the adult catholics that I had grown up with. They treated me like you described in the homily. Walking with me, hoping in me. Any crazy idea I had was at least looked at, not immediately turned down or made to be wrong. The only way that I could return these favors was to be like them and show the youth in my old community that Jesus sees that good in them.
