Spreading Kindness Wherever You Go

It is a little late, but February 11 – 17 was “Random Acts of Kindness” week in the US. Still, kindness never goes out of fashion no matter what week it is. For some good ideas on how to spread kindness in the world, check out The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation.

Do something nice for someone today :)

    Random?

I recall a work-site comedy routine on TV where Laurel is carrying a long 2×4 on his shoulder. Upon being called, Laurel turns unexpectedly and his 2×4 whacks Hardy who was busy painting … and there was much humor in the ensuing madness!

My recollection is vague but the story is valid. No child needs to be told that Hardy had no real complaint. We all KNEW instinctively that Laurel was innocent. Perhaps he was guilty of being inattentive, but NOT for attacking Hardy. He might be responsible for remedying the mess but he is not morally culpable of assault.

At a dramatic moment in the 1957 classic cinema, 12 Angry Men, one jury member chides another for his “any road” approach to voting ‘guilty’ first, then ‘not guilty’ later – for no apparent reason, except he was weary of the arguing or because he didn’t want to miss the ballgame.

Yet, a boy’s life depended upon this jury room deliberation. He should have been chided: a man should vote ‘guilty’ or ‘not guilty’ because he means it – he should have a reason!

    Random acts of kindness?

God is not random and neither is the devil, for that matter. Why should I?
