Catholic Men’s Day of Prayer

February 19th, 2008 by Maurice Blumberg Print This Article Print This Article ·

Dear Brothers in Christ,

You are invited to join with Catholic men from all over the U.S. for the first Catholic Men's National Day of Prayer on March 15, 2008, The Solemnity of St. Joseph. The Catholic Men's National Day of Prayer was originally conceived by Dan Spencer, founder of The St. Joseph Center of Kansas City.  Spencer proposed the idea to the leadership of the National Fellowship of Catholic Men, with whom he is associated, as an activity that would serve to bring men from every state together to pray for both a personal and collective renewed commitment to Jesus Christ and His Church.

St. Joseph is the man God ordained to be both protector and provider to the Blessed Virgin Mary and our Lord Jesus Christ. He represents the saintly integration of faith in both his private and public life. For him, there was no conflict between the sacred roles of believer, disciple, husband, father, and worker. He is a perfect example of a fully integrated man and, therefore, a perfect model of our lay vocation and what each of us is called by God to be.

What Do We Pray For?

For every man to heed Christ's call for personal conversion.

For every man to become an enlivened disciple of Jesus Christ.

For every Catholic man to fully actualize his vocational state of life calling.

For every married man to love his wife and kids as Christ loved the Church.

For every layman to embrace and proclaim the truth of Jesus Christ in his home, parish, workplace, and community.

When Will We Pray?

Morning prayer: Before you begin your day

Mass: Attend during the day

Night prayer: Before retiring for the day

Come to the National Fellowship of Catholic Men website (http://http://www.catholicmensresources.org/) for more information on the Catholic Men's National Day of Prayer including suggested additional activities and petitions for families, work, Church, nation, and world.

Saint Joseph has been solemnly proclaimed by Pope Pius IX as Patron and Protector of the Universal Church. Saint Joseph therefore is our father, the advocate of all necessities, he is the Patron of a happy death, provider of financial help-in particularly to the poor and religious communities-the Patron of families, of laborers, of the sick, of the poor, of the rich(to help them distribute their possessions charitably and help them obtain riches in heaven), of the suffering, of travelers, of exiles, of the afflicted, of the married, of virgins, of youths, of priests and those aspiring to the priesthood, of those advanced in virtue, and those devoted to prayer. He is the rescuer of sinners, consoler of poor souls, terror of demons, and conqueror of hell.

Pope Pius IX place the vast campaign of the Church against world communism under the standard of Saint Joseph, Her mighty protector.

Pope John Paul II recommends every man to Saint Joseph, his patronage is vary necessary for the Church, not only to defense against all dangers that threaten Her, but also, and indeed primarily, as an impetus for renewed commitment to evangelization in the world, and re- evangelization in those lands and nations where religion and Christian life are put to hard test.

A quick peek in to see what this channel was about and I hope I can make a suggestion on the part of Catholic Exchange to Catholic men everywhere…consider giving the gift of the CE Online Women's Study for an anointed Easter present to the women you are called to love. JPII says in Mulieris Dignitatem that men are called by God to love and women are called to "be loved!"  Show your love in this beautiful way!  The registration is on the CE homepage under CE spotlight and CE Faith Factory.  The added bonus?  You help support this non-profit site that offers so much for our edification, enlightenment, and enjoyment.

    Lenten blessings,

    Cheryl
