Karen, Jesus was tempted by Satan to turn stones into bread because he wanted him to produce a miracle without necessity. Then Satan wanted Jesus to step off a cliff to cause God to save him which Jesus would not tempt God. Finally Satan wanted to tempt Jesus with power by showing him all the kingdoms of the earth for a posession and Christ knew that he was to be given power and authority from God the Father. Satan tempts us in every way as well to disobey and I have been told in confession that it is not a sin to be tempted in any way, but it is a sin to act on that temptation then indulge yourself.

Karen,

Thank you for sharing this beautiful reflection about your own journey through the "desert." I know that your words which so honestly describe some of the tempataions throughout Lent will touch hearts reminding them that they are not alone and will also inspire them to stay close to our Lord and His Holy Mother.

God bless and love,
