That is one significant ordinary. I have to admit that I am pleased that he drove cafe-cath types out of Church ministries – sort of counter-examples reflecting his demand for obedient orthodoxy.

One thing we do need is a Papal nuncio who is as demanding as this bishop – and Benny Sixteen. Remember, the Pope picks from nuncio lists of three candidates for the various national ordinaries. It could be that our nuncios have been as likely as some of our ordinaries to schmooze with just the plain wrong kinds of national leaders.

This is coming to an end as there's a greater and healthier mix in the clergy now and the trend is in that direction. We can help the correction process by supporting the parishes that are faithful as Jim said.

There is hope.

The fallacy in their argument is that the schismatics don't give a hoot about them or the Church. The schism is already here. Compromise and diplomacy ONLY work when dealing with people as honorable as you. Diplomacy does not work with scoundrels like Bishop Lynch and his priest.

Find faithful priests and a faithful bishop and hold on tight. Don't settle for apathetic or watered down Catholicism either. Get the real thing or find another parish!

I recall also the "through the looking glass" autopsy report from the coroner which scandalously avoided making the rather obvious observation that Terri Schiavo died of dehydration.  Under cause of death, it described the blunt force trauma from an automobile accident she had twelve years earlier. And the papers all pointed to it and said, "See? She had no quality of life! She was in a persistive vegatative state!"

This is worthy of our attention.  Let's fast forward thirty years. I think that, for those of us now under the age of fifty or so, the likelihood that we will be euthanized by our own children is fairly high. The data in the Netherlands is pretty stunning — euthanasia account for over 11% of deaths in that country, and over 40% of them are done without the knowledge (and thereby without the consent) of the victim.

And our church leaders spend their time and treasure defending the Church on outrageous settlements over abusive clergy. 

I have known of this travesty of injustice and immorality about Florida Catholic authorities for some time. Bishop Lynch infuriated me while Terri Schiavo was yet alive. To me, he should have been deposed to the diocese of the Aleutians, Baffin Island and northern Greenland.

I cannot find it surprising that many Catholic leaders are closet ‘elitist secularists’. For many of every stripe, a little education combined with pride and ego is a very dangerous thing for their souls, and for the rest of us about our very lives.

As long as the unfaithful priests named in the article draw breath, there is time to repent.  I rejoice in the hope that they still may serve the Church and their spouse, Christ, faithfully.
