God loves you .

AndyP - We can agree that the NAB just doesn't cut the mustard, but, can you give us a hint as to Benny16's favorite version?

Navarre?

RSV?

Jerusalem?

Douay-Rheims?

Remember, I love you, too .

Thanks, Mary,

It should be clear to all that no one can bring someone "back" unless that person "judges" that the other strayed (from the truth).

It is against Charity not to judge in that regard. And yes, it must be Christ doing the actual Judging thru you, because He is the Truth. If you judge with the mind of the Church then you judge with the mind of Christ.

God loves you .

Okay, yeah - thanks Mary! I LOVE to judge - but, more in self-abnegating ways about me. My spiritual director climbs all over me in my indelicate and even vicious scrupulosity.

Remember, the Two Great Commandments are predicated on that small commandment to 'love yourself'. In Christ's love, given to me without my begging but for His own love's purposes, I must love myself that I love my neighbor(s) as myself.

I love me, Lord.
"Oh, yeah? Why?"
Because YOU love me.
"Fair enough - good start - hang on to that, now."

Remember, I love you, too .

Jacques Paul Migne was an interesting person living in the nineteenth century in France. He was a priest/Pastor who gave up his parish duties to open a printing business - Catholic Printing - that grew into a pretty big company with hundreds of employees. He printed an enourmous amount of material dealing with Catholic dogma, teaching, etc. For a long time he was the pride and joy of the Church in France, but he got himself excommunicated over some disagreement with the Bishop of Orleans. In one of his many, many books he instructed the "clerics" on the matter of Judgement.

Christ has given to his priests a power he would not grant to the Angels. The Father has given all judgement into the hands of his son, and the son in turn has granted the power to his priests. (He does not indicate that the priests delegated that power to the people.)

Jacques may or may not be a good source. I can't tell if he was "in" or "out" when he was writing this book. In any event Jacques claimed to be well informed, but not inspired.

Martin Luther famously wrote to Melancthon, "Be a sinner and sin on bravely. Do not for a moment imagine that this life is the abiding place of justice: sin must be committed. The sin cannot tear you away from him, even though you commit adultery a hundred times a day and commit as many murders."

When we truly love our neighbor, we must judge behavior and call sin for what it is, while calling our fellow men to Christ in love.

False doctrines lead to bad assumptions which lead to disastrous consequences!
