God loves you .

I am at least confused. I just can't get what the writer thinks would be right for Iraq - as compared to working for a representaive, ballot-driven society - call it 'democracy' or call it 'republic' or call it 'the Shia-Sunni show'.

Frankly, how variable is 'the task of the government' that free-citizen-driven government is ever NOT the way to go? Germany to the Nazis was hardly a typical result of democratic process, and at least as much offshoot of demoralizing Germans and nearly destroying their economy via the Treaty of Versailles as anything else.

I mean, Geneva under 'Lord' Calvin was nearly a dictatorship. Any rule was fine as long as it passed through Calvin's lordly decision. One may call him a benevolent dictator, but, dictator he effectively was. Benevolent dictatorships tend to live effectively for 'the task of the government' for one generation - should the dictator live so long. In other words, "all tyrants suck".

But - of Iraq - we need to see an obligation of helping them through one whole generational cycle of elections - until it is all that their children know - to have it sink roots and form governance for 'the task of the government' 'of the people, by the people, for the people' of Iraq.

Remember, I love you, too

GK, if you interpret this as a breath of fresh air, all well and good. I don't think that the State Dept. and this Admin. are naive enough to see it differently. Stability and the absence of tyrannical rule is what this campaign in Iraq is about. Free flow of oil is also in the equation. Enforcing the rule of international law is the primary reason we went in. If Iraq establishes some form of Israeli style democracy, I'm sure we'd take it.

This article is a breath of fresh air. One size does not fit all. May grace flow in Iraq over the coming months and years. Those poor people deserve some peace.

GK - God is good!
